A 40ft containerized Truck loaded with fabric fell at the Otedola bridge inward Berger due to a brake failure which led to a collision with a tanker loaded with 33000 liters of PMS on Saturday morning
The impact of the collision resulted in a fire outbreak.
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA ,
Lagos State Fire service, and the FRSC were however a present at the incident scene to curtail the fire.
No casualty was recorded but the fire affected the 40ft containerized truck as well as a high tension wire in the area.
The affected vehicles have been recovered from the road with the aid of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s heavy duty equipment while damping down at the scene has also been concluded.
The Executive Director, LASEMA, Olufemi Oke- Osanyitolu said the Agency promptly responded to the fire outbreak after several distress calls it received from its control room.
The backlog of traffic gridlock the incident created has since eased off.
Tanker explosion has in recent times been a recurring decimal at Otedola bridge in Lagos. Many have attributed the cause to a road design defect.
The road deeply descends and curves at the same time which to experts makes it unsuitable for overladen tankers to ply.
