The Federal Government has suspended the introduction of another five percent Excise Duty in the telecoms sector.
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa pantami who made the announcement at a presidential review committee on excise duty in Abuja said there are Already about forty one categories of charges in the Communications sector and adding another five percent will overburden Nigerians.
He explained that based on the recommendations of the committee president Buhari approved the exemption of the five percent Excise Duty while challenging other sectors of the nation’s economy to also contribute significantly to the country’s GDP like the telecoms sector has done over the years.
