An election Official Who absconded with 14 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and other materials during the last Saturday Governorship Election I Jos North Council area has been arrested.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday at the Jos North INEC Office when he came to return the BVAS three days after he and others were declared wanted
The Missing BVAS, was part of the issue which brought apprehension at the INEC Headquarters in Jos during the collation of the Governorship results.
But in a dramatic twist of events, about 24 hours after the election was declared, one of the suspects who was declared wanted over the missing BVAS and other election materials in Naraguta (B) Ward of Jos North local government area Abubakar Useni appeared on Tuesday with 14 BVAS, claiming that he ran away due to tension at the collation center.
However, Contrary to the statement of the Suspect, INEC’S Registration Area Technical Support Staff for Jos North, John Cornelius, while gaving his own account of what happened said he only received a call From the suspect on Tuesday since they were declared wanted.
Although there was no official statement from INEC as at the time of filling this report, but the suspect and others involved in the metter are being transferred to the Plateau state Criminal investigation Deportment.
