Canadian Rapper Drake has won a whooping sum of two point seven million dollars( $2.7million) from a bet prediction on Nigerian born New Zealander professional mixed martial artist, kickboxer Israel Adesanya’s fight with his Brazilian counterpart Alex Pereira.
The duo who are in the Middleweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had a fight on Saturday April 8th 2023 held at the Kaseya Center Miami, Florida United States; which saw Nigeria’s Adesanya knock out Pereira at UFC 287 to reclaim the middleweight title.
Adesanya’s victory comes just five months after he lost the 185lb title to his rival Pereira who had previously beaten him twice in kickboxing.
Initially, the God’s Plan singer Drake had lost one point six million dollars ($1.6 million) on bet; after backing Adesanya to win in that fight but he made amends for the rapper in his rematch with Pereira.
Drake had also placed a five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) bet on Adesanya to win which returned eight hundred and eighty five thousand dollars ($885,000) and a four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) bet for him to win by knockout, which returned a massive one point eight million dollars ($1.8million).
When Israel Adesanya ‘The Last Stylebender’ as he is often called was asked about Drake’s bet after his fight, he responded: “Shoutout to everyone that bet on me but you have to realise that when I step into the octagon I put my life on the line. That’s the biggest parlay you can ever do.
I’m a betting man too so shoutout to Drake, we are about to make another deal and get more money.”
