Internally Displaced Persons from the Abagana and Mbawa IDP camps took to the streets of Makurdi, Benue State’s capital to protest against what they termed “a plot to disenfranchise them from the rescheduled housing and population Census following their displacement from their ancestral homes since 2018.
They winded down at the National Population Commission in makurdi, where the leader of the protesting IDPs, Ladi Tyough presented their demands.
As the resheduled population census drows closer so does the number of internally displaced across the nations food basket continue to soar over insecurity spreading fears of whether the commission can actually get an accurate count.
Here in Makurdi the state capital these displaced persons take this concern to the door step of the Commission who had earlier promised to ensure they are captured.
Although the commission seems to have take steps to address their concerns the problem of lost communities to armed herders remain a valid concern.
