The National Union Of Allied Health Professionals have expressed displeasure over what it Describes as the discriminatory attitude of the Nigeria Ministry of Health to issues Concerning the welfare of its members.
President of the union Osi Ogbonna Joint Health Sector ,made this known during a briefing with Journalists on Wednesday in Abuja said the ministry has been frustrating efforts on adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary structure CONHESS and Consolidated Medical Salary Structure.
Ogbona said the union has already given a 15-day ultimatum to Government to look into the contentious issues failure which will push it to consider industrial options to get Government’s Attention to listen to their demands
Meanwhile the Lagos State Branch of the Association has threatened to withdraw it’s Services
From 12.00 Midnight on Thursday 25th May 2023 following a directive by their leadership to proceed on an indefinite strike.
According to a press Statement by the Union Members,the decision is in compliance with the decision of our national body which has given the directive upon the completion of a 15 day ultimatum to that effect
According to The Union leadership Efforts have been made at their various level to ensure the fulfilment of the agreement reached at a high powered meeting between our union and Representatives of the Lagos State Government that held on Tuesday 9th February 2023 with no success achieved.
“It is apparent that all our efforts to prevent Industrial Disharmony between us and our employers at all cost, often at great sacrifices and pain, for the sake of our clients, (the good people of Lagos and its environs), have been seen as a sign of weakness and stupidity which must be continually and maximally exploited’
We have therefore resolved to proceed on this total and indefinite strike until all our demands as agreed upon on
