Following reports of a fire incident that occurred late Friday night December 30th 2023 at the Iganmu area of Lagos where the nation’s agelong iconic cultural heritage; the National Arts Theatre was said to have gutted fire has been debunked.
The General Manager of the edifice Sunday Ododo has said the creative hub currently under rehabilitation to a world class standard was not affected by the inferno as being speculated.
Ododo explained that the fire incident said to have been caused by an exploded gas cylinder occured at a remote area annexed to the National Arts Theatre environment formerly occupied by the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization(CBAAC) located around a portion of land called the Artiste Village.
He noted that there was no structural nor human damage to the Edifice and commended the swift action of Emergency Response Team for putting the fire in the affected area out.
