The Executive Secretary, DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi has appealed to Nigerians to Continuously Uphold the Practice of Voluntary reporting in good time to save lives.
Vivour -Adeniyi said the Agency received a distress call at around 1pm today
from a mandated reporter, reporting a case of domestic violence which had allegedly led to the death of the 7-month pregnant woman who allegedly died after complaining of body pains all over her body in the early hours of today.
The unfortunate incident happened in Ketu area of Lagos where It was alleged that her husband had serially abused her physically and otherwise.
The last incident allegedly happened during midnight on the 16th January 2024 which had resulted to her death.
It was also revealed that One of the family members confirmed that the deceased had repeatedly reported physical abuse to the husband’s family members, unfortunately nothing was done to address the issue.
Upon the receipt of the case, Field Officers from the Agency incidented the case at the nearest police station where investigation has commenced immediately. The alleged perpetrator has been apprehended, currently in police custody and investigation is ongoing.
“We sympathise with the family of the departed and use this medium to reiterate the fact that every domestic violence is truly a potential murder case”.
