Tribalism on its own poses a threat, so consider the consequences when it merges with another harmful trait — hypocrisy!

Tribal hypocrisy presents complexities from all angles! It can manifest in various ways, often involving contradictions between stated values and actual behaviours within a group or community.

Certain illustrations include:
Double standards: Applying different rules or expectations to members within the group versus outsiders.

Selective interpretation: Interpreting traditions or norms in a way that benefits certain individuals or subgroups.

Inconsistencies in values: Claiming to uphold certain values while acting contrary to them.

The phrase double standard refers to the inconsistent application of rules or principles to comparable situations, often in an unfair or hypocritical manner. This can manifest in several circumstances.
