Today’s Word

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Psalm 23:5, NKJV

***UNCLUTTER YOUR MIND

When you have opposition, when you have trouble, when people come against you, God has a table there. The key is to not fight with the opposition, to not try to pay people back or prove your point, to not live upset, worried, or frustrated. No, take a seat at the table that God has prepared.

If you stay at rest, God will go to work. But when you work, God will rest. As long as you’re worried and trying to make things happen in your own strength, that will limit what God will do.

God says in Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (NIV). Clear out the worry, clear out the offense, clear out the negativity. Live from a place of peace, a place of rest, a place of faith. God has you in the palm of His hand. Nothing you’re facing is a surprise to Him.

In 2 Chronicles 20:17, when the Israelites were facing a vast enemy army, He told them, “‘You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you” (NKJV). He wasn’t just talking about being still physically; He meant to be still in their minds and in their attitudes. You may have plenty of good reasons for why you could be worried, upset, and not able to sleep at night, but when you’re at peace, that’s a position of power. When you’re in peace, you’re showing God that you trust Him. Anyone can stay in faith and have a good attitude when everything is going their way.

The test comes when the medical report is not good, when a friend walks away, when the loan doesn’t go through, when your child is off course. You could easily let all the clutter in. No, be still. That’s the time to show God that you trust Him, not just with your words but with your actions.

***REFLECTION
Is there anything troubling you today? How does the practice of Uncluttering Your Mind help you with this difficulty?

Write about a situation, person, or event in your life that you’re worried about. Now, be still with your eyes closed, picturing in your mind an image of laying down these worries at the feet of Jesus.

***DECLARATION
God, today I declare that You are bigger than any problem I have or anything that is trying to stop me. I will guard my heart against negative thoughts, and I will keep my eyes on You. I declare that just as You flung stars into space, spoke worlds into existence, and parted the Red Sea, You will take care of me. You can handle anything that comes against me. I declare that I will be still and know that You are God.

***PRAYER
Dear God,
Thank You for always being there for me, even when trouble comes my way. When people oppose me, I know You have a special place prepared for me. Instead of fighting back or seeking revenge, I choose to calmly sit at the table You’ve set for me. I let go of my worries, frustrations, and fears, and trust that when I rest, You are working on my behalf. Help me not to rely on my own strength, as that limits Your power in my life. Your Word tells me to be still and recognize You as God. Today, I choose to let go of worry, offense, and negativity. I embrace a life of peace, rest, and faith. I believe that You hold me in Your hand, and nothing I face surprises You. Thank You, God, for Your everlasting love. I commit to living in Your peace and trusting Your faithful promises. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

SECTION TWO

I love rainbows. Who doesn’t? But do you know how the beautiful rainbow came about?

In the book of Genesis, God placed a beautiful rainbow in the sky to remind Himself and us of His oath never to flood the earth again. Then, in the Book of Isaiah, He declared that just as He had sworn never to flood the earth again, He has sworn never to be angry with us again.

My friend, God is NOT angry with you today because of the covenant of peace established by the blood of Jesus. Today, see the Lord smiling at you, eager to bless and heal you!

GOSPEL CORNER: WHAT’S UPSETTING YOU? WHAT’S KEEPING YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT? GOD IS SAYING, “RELEASE IT TO ME. I’M IN CONTROL.

TODAY’S WORD

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.
Psalm 55:22, NIV

LET GO OF CONTROL
One of the best things I’ve learned is to trust God’s timing and His ways. What God promised will come to pass. But it may not happen the way you think, and it may not be when you had planned. If you’re trying to control the outcome and the time frame, you’re going to live worried. You have to release control. You have to let go of having to have it happen your way.

God already has what’s upsetting you figured out. He knows the end from the beginning. But here’s the key: He doesn’t give you the details. If you knew how everything was going to work out, it wouldn’t take faith. If He told you, “Three months from now, a big door is going to open. It may look as though you’re going backward, but there’s a shortcut that’s going to put you ahead,” you would relax and say, “Okay, it’s all going to work out.” Why don’t you do that now? God has it all planned out. He’s doing things you can’t see. There are good breaks coming. The healing, the favor, and the right people are already on your schedule. If you release control of what is troubling you, you can enjoy your life while you’re waiting for things to change. What’s upsetting you? What’s keeping you awake at night? God is saying, “Release it to Me. I’m in control. I’m ordering your steps. I’m working behind the scenes. It may not be good yet, but I’m going to turn it for your good.”

Once you’ve believed, you don’t have to figure everything out. If you don’t see anything changing, you’ll be tempted to worry, but stay at rest. When you’re at rest, you’re showing God that you trust Him. Maybe you’re believing for your health to improve, but the medical report is not getting better. You thought it would have happened by now. You could be worried and complaining, but instead you’re thanking God, you’re declaring His promises, you’re being your best each day. When you’re at rest, you’re in faith. That’s what allows God to work.

But if you’re upset over what’s not changing, worried about your finances, and can’t sleep because your child is off course, that’s a sign that you’ve stopped believing. You need to enter into rest. Come back to a place of peace. You can’t trust God and be worried at the same time. When you’re at rest, you know that God is in control. You know that all things are going to work for your good, and you know that what He started, He’s going to finish. When you’re at rest, you’re not stressed out, and you feel restored and revitalized.

REFLECTION
What are you waiting for God to do in your life? How does the principle of Letting Go of Control help you in the waiting?

Are you carrying burdens on your heart today? Give them to God as you write them down and, in faith, let His peace and protection surround you.

DECLARATION
Today, I declare that I am releasing control of my life to God, trusting His timing, trusting His ways, and trusting that what He started, He is going to finish. I declare that I will enter into a place of peace and rest, knowing that God will sustain me in every storm and that even now He is shifting the winds to move me forward. I declare that the fullness of my destiny is coming, and it won’t be one second late.

PRAYER
Lord,
I trust in Your divine timing and plan. Even when my path seems winding and unclear, I know You’re steering my life with purpose. As I face detours and delays, let me remember that these are not setbacks but setups for a bigger blessing You have prepared for me. When doors seem closed and I can’t discern Your hand at work, I remain hopeful, knowing You work behind the scenes in ways beyond my comprehension. I embrace where I am because I believe it is where You want me to be. Thank You, Lord, for the set times of favor, healing, and turnaround You have designated for me. I realize that if it hasn’t happened yet, it’s not my time. Help me not to fight but to trust, knowing that my breakthrough is coming right on schedule. God, I rejoice in Your promises and look forward to the day when Your bigger, more rewarding blessings unfold in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Ogboye reiterated the commitment of the Governor Sanwo-Olu led administration to putting in place strategies geared towards building stronger local and global partnerships to meet the healthcare demands of the State whilst staying in tune with modern trends in healthcare service delivery.

While appreciating Naijaid-UK for the generous donation to the Lagos State Government, the Permanent Secretary stressed Lagos State is open to productive collaborations which will enhance the provision of an efficient and sustainable health care service in Lagos.

He noted that the AEDs would be put to good use, urging nurses who benefited from the training to make the best out of what they have learnt and cascade the knowledge to their colleagues at the facility level.

She stressed the need for regular capacity building programs for health workers particularly nurses in Lagos State adding that training such as this will keep healthcare workers abreast of modern trends in efficient medical practice.

Dr. Folake Dawodu, a facilitator at the training stated that nurses must always be at their best in identifying and recognizing deteriorating patients as most cardiac arrests are predictable and adding that hypoxaemia and hypotension are common antecedents of the condition.

No fewer than 40 nurse executives drawn from public and private health facilities in Lagos State benefited from the immediate life support training sponsored by Naijaid-UK in partnership with the Lagos State Government.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON MOHBAD’S COMPENSATION & ROYALTIES

05/10/23

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has assured that they will ensure that late Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, receives proper compensation and royalties from songs produced as an individual artiste and under the marlian record label.

Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Olumide Osoba, who made this known during an interactive session with Nigerian Copyright Commission and the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria said the rights and royalties accrued to Mohbad’s music must be recovered.

The committee, which was constituted by the House following a motion of urgent public importance by Babajimi Benson to monitor investigations by security agencies and secure that royalties of Mohbad’s songs emphasised the significance of securing compensation and royalties for Nigerian artistes.

The committee maintained that the action will enable artists to sustain their careers, create new music, and build a future within the industry saying the current system often falls short in adequately protecting and providing for young musicians concerning their royalty rights.

The lawmakers agreed that the knowledge gap in Nigeria’s music industry places artistes at a disadvantage, as they may not fully grasp the complex legal intricacies surrounding royalty rights committing to bridging the knowledge gap and ensuring that young musicians are aware of their rights while having access to legal support that safeguards their interests.

The committee noted that addressing these issues is vital to implementing stronger regulations and support systems within the industry which includes advocating for more transparent and standardized contracts for all artists, irrespective of their age or experience, to level the playing field and prevent the exploitation of young talent.

As parts of its resolutions, the committee is seeking legislation that will provide accessible legal advice and assistance to young musicians through organizations, unions, or educational programs towards equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to understand and negotiate contracts to protect their rights and secure fair compensation for their creative contributions.

The committee says it is committed to this responsibility, adding that they have requested relevant information regarding the circumstances of Mohbad’s death with measures in place to secure his royalties and other benefits

The committee promised to ensure that the rights of young musicians regarding royalties are protected, saying efforts would be made to guarantee that they receive fair compensation for their hard work and artistic contributions.

Twenty seven year old Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, passed away on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances
