NDLEA LAUNCHES MANHUNT FOR LEKKI DRUG DEALER WHO CRUSHED OPERATIVE TO ESCAPE ARREST

PRESS RELEASE

BENEDICTA TD

Operatives of The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have launched a manhunt for a Lekki Lagos-based notorious suspected drug dealer, Sowunmi Ayodeji Kayode who is now on the run after driving his luxury car to crush an NDLEA officer in his bid to escape arrest when operatives were on a search of his house last weekend.

According to the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, anti-narcotics Officer of the Agency had on Friday 18th August stormed the residence of the wanted drug dealer located at 2/3 Adetola Ayeni close, Lekki, Lagos for a search and possible arrest following credible intelligence that he was dealing in illicit drugs in his house.
Although he was not in the house when operatives got into his compound, he, however, returned while a search of his apartment was ongoing.
In a dramatic twist, as soon as he drove into the premises and sighted NDLEA officers, he engaged his car in reverse gear, knocked down one of the officers, pulled down his gate before plunging the vehicle into the fence of the opposite compound. The force of his car’s speed also pulled down the concrete wall of his neighbour’s compound, and from there, he dived out of the vehicle to escape.

A thorough search of his apartment however led to the recovery of 10.5 kilograms of Loud, while the operative knocked down, suffered multiple injuries all over his body and compound fracture on his two legs, for which he is currently on hospital admission for treatment.

Following the unpleasant development, NDLEA Chairman retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa has directed the deployment of appropriate operational assets of the Agency to smoke out the wanted suspect from his hiding. He also approved adequate medical care for the injured officer so that he can get back on his feet as soon as possible.

GOSPEL CORNER: WE ALL GO THROUGH DISAPPOINTMENTS, BETRAYALS, AND UNFAIR SITUATIONS. IT’S EASY TO HOLD ON TO THE HURTS, THINK ABOUT WHAT SOMEONE SAID, RELIVE THE OFFENSE.

Today’s Word

Today’s Scripture
He said to His disciples, “Offenses will certainly come.”
Luke 17:1, HCSB

LET IT GO
We all go through disappointments, betrayals, and unfair situations. It’s easy to hold on to the hurts, think about what someone said, relive the offense. We don’t realize how much that’s souring our attitude, draining our energy, and limiting our creativity. If you’re going to fulfill your destiny, you have to get good at letting things go. Jesus said that offenses will certainly come, not just might come. How you deal with offenses will determine whether you move forward and see the new things God has in store or whether you get stuck in bitterness.

Many people are living out of a wounded place over how they were raised, or a friend who walked away, or a business partner who cheated them. Instead of letting the hurt go, they relive it over and over. Then they wonder why they don’t have good relationships. It’s because they haven’t healed. Until you get well, that wound will hinder you wherever you go. When you let it go and forgive, you can see beauty for the ashes, healing, and freedom.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that I can guard my heart and let go of all the hurts and disappointments that have come my way. Thank You that You bring healing to my wounded places and beauty for ashes. I declare that I will not allow offenses to get inside and make me bitter. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

SECTION TWO

It is important for you to recognize that there is a significant difference between God’s unmerited favor and favoritism. God’s unmerited favor is based entirely on Jesus’ merit, and we received it through His finished work at the cross. We did nothing to deserve His favor. It is completely unmerited.

Favoritism, however, stinks of self-effort. Individuals who rely on favoritism for promotion have to resort to apple polishing, office politics, manipulative tactics, backstabbing, and all kinds of compromises just to get what they want. They use all their efforts to open doors for themselves, and in the process, they lose themselves.

God has a higher and better way for you. It hurts Him to see His precious children groveling like sycophants just to get ahead in life. If a door closes, so be it! Believe with full confidence that God has a better way for you. You do not have to depend on favoritism to keep opportunities open for yourself when you have God’s unmerited favor!

That was how Joseph operated. He depended on the Lord for his success, and not on favoritism, which would have required him to compromise his beliefs. When Potiphar’s wife, who was likely one of the most beautiful women in the land, kept trying to seduce Joseph to sleep with her, Joseph stood his ground on the firm foundation of unmerited favor.

He refused, saying, “There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he [Potiphar] kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9).

From his words, it is clear that Joseph knew the source of his success, favor, and blessings. He did not see giving in to Potiphar’s wife as a great wickedness and sin against Potiphar alone, but against God too. He knew that every blessing that he had experienced was a result of the Lord’s favor on him. He knew that it was not Potiphar who promoted him from the position of a lowly slave to become the overseer of Potiphar’s entire estate. It was the Lord!

Similarly in your life, know and rejoice that it is the Lord who is the source of your blessings and success! You don’t have to resort to trying to win the favor of significant people in your life. It is the Lord’s favor on you that sets you up for recognition, promotion, and increase.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

All of God’s promises have their yes in him. That is why we say Amen through him to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20, CEB

FIND THE AMEN
When God puts a promise in your heart and you believe it, you have the “yes,” and you know it’s going to happen. But you need to find the “amen”—someone to agree with you who says, “You have the yes and believe God is restoring health to you. I have the amen. I agree with you that healing is coming.” You don’t need someone who says, “Oh no. You really think so?”

God’s promises are not “yes and oh no,” they are “yes and amen.” You need to come out of “oh no” agreements with negative people who doubt, water down your faith, and cause you to get discouraged. If you get rid of the “oh no” people, God will send you “amen” people who say, “You believe the addiction can’t control you. You have the yes, and I have the amen. I agree that whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” When you have a faith partner who adds the amen, it causes angels to go to work, miracles are set in motion, and favor is released.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that all of Your promises have their yes in Jesus and I can believe You for them. Help me to distance myself from ‘oh no’ people who try to water down my faith. And help me to find faith partners who will bring the ‘amen’ and agree with me in prayer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

SECTION TWO

I love how our Lord Jesus is such a loving and practical God. When there is a problem, He goes straight to the solution.

Before Jesus stepped in to heal the man born blind, His disciples were caught up in uncovering whose sin had made the man blind. Jesus, on the other hand, was interested only in using His power to give the poor man sight!

The same way Jesus didn’t get sucked into the “blame game” is the same way He doesn’t want you to. So don’t ask what or whose sin caused your sickness. Forget about what you should or shouldn’t have done or why it happened. Be preoccupied instead with your solution—Jesus Christ, who through the cross has removed every sin in your life and who wants to work a miracle in your body!

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

So don’t ever be afraid, dearest friends! Your loving Father joyously gives you his kingdom with all its promises!”
Luke 12:32, TPT

JOYOUSLY
Too often, instead of believing that God will do something special for us personally, we believe the lies that tell us just the opposite. “You can’t ask for what you really want. That would be selfish. You don’t deserve it. Who do you think you are to even ask for it?” Yet the Scripture says your loving Father joyously gives you His kingdom with all its promises. He says that so you’ll have the boldness to ask for big things, for God-sized dreams that honor Him.

In all the big things you ever ask God for, you won’t hear Him say, “Who are you to ask for that?” Just the opposite. God will be whispering, “You’re the apple of My eye, My most prized possession. I love the fact that you come to Me and dare to believe that I can do the impossible.” Of course, everything you’ll ask for won’t come to pass, but there will be times when you see God show out in your life in ways greater than you ever imagined.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You joyously give me Your kingdom with all its promises. Thank You for encouraging me to come to You and dare to ask big. I declare that I am asking You to show out through my life in ways I never imagined. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

SECTION TWO

You can choose life today. How? By realizing that life and death are in the power of your tongue. So you can walk and reign in life every day: Instead of complaining about your symptoms, simply thank God for His gift of righteousness and declare your righteousness in Christ.

Say this prayer with me:

“Jesus, thank You for not just loving me and removing my sins, but for also giving me Your everlasting righteousness. You ARE my righteousness—today, tomorrow and forevermore. And because I am righteous, I will REIGN IN LIFE through You. I will reign over sin and sickness, and live a life that glorifies You!”

GOSPEL CORNER: WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF WAVERING IN FAITH, JUDGE HIM FAITHFUL AND BE AT REST. HE CANNOT FAIL YOU AND WILL DO AS HIS WORD HAS PROMISED!

21/08/23

We often hear about Abraham’s faith, but do you know that his wife, Sarah, had faith too? She received divine strength to conceive Isaac, even though by this time, as a woman who had never conceived, she was doubly barren!

How did Sarah find faith? The Bible tells us that she “judged Him faithful who had promised”. She was conscious of the Lord’s faithfulness, not her own faithfulness!

My friend, rest in the faithfulness of Jesus. It’s not your faith but His faithfulness—His faithfulness in always loving you and making good on His promise to heal you. When you find yourself wavering in faith, judge Him faithful and be at rest. He cannot fail you and will do as His Word has promised!

NAFDAC WARNS AGAINST CONSUMPTION OF UNBRANDED CEREALS ,SAYS THEY ARE PICKED UP FROM DUMP SITES IN AGBARA.

21/08/23

PRESS RELEASE

OLADIPO DG

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned food manufacturers that it will no longer accept poorly destroyed expired or stolen products sneaking into the Market via scavengers at waste dump sites, putting the lives of innocent consumers, particularly children, in danger.

Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the Agency’s Director General, issued a strong warning at the Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Directorate Stakeholder’s Engagement with food sector operators in Lagos, insisting that “if a product does not have a NAFDAC number, we cannot guarantee the safety.”

Unequivocally condemning the habit of patronizing unbranded Cereals in the open market, Prof. Adeyeye warned that when a product is not certified by NAFDAC it is not advised that anybody should consume it, adding that the unbranded products in the market, do not have NAFDAC registration/Marketing authorisation number.

She emphasized that all the products that have gone through the regulatory processes are packaged with NAFDAC registration numbers on them.

According to her in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday by the Resident Media Consultant NAFDAC, Mr Sayo Akintola, ’We cannot speak to the safety of unbranded food in the open market. We do not know where they have come from. We don’t know anything about the expiry date. We cannot trace’. she said.

In 2021 and 2022, she recalled that the Agency carried out a lot of investigation and enforcement activities on unbranded cereals leading to the arrest of some people that were selling online in Onitsha and bringing them to Lagos.

Delving into the psychology of the consumption pattern of risky products, the DG disclosed that in the cause of the investigation, it was discovered that people would prefer to buy the unbranded ones despite the inherent dangers associated with it.

‘’We considered the circumstances and the packaging, and we couldn’t really understand whether it is cheaper’’, she said, adding that ‘’we found out that even some smaller packages, the smallest packages of cereals were also removed from the packaging materials and also sold in bulk. They add them together and sell them online.

On the issue of the source of the cereals, the NAFDAC boss argued that some industries are also complicit in this. She said ‘’we found out that some of the cereals were picked up from dump sites in Agbara.

She said that investigations by the Agency revealed that the Products were disposed of through Ogun State Waste Management Authority, adding that the disposal methods of companies are also an issue.

‘’If you want to dispose of some bad or expired products, you are supposed to destroy them by NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, not by the company directly through waste disposal authorities. It will always get to scavengers who will sell it back to the market.

According to her, further investigations revealed that most of the products were stolen from company warehouses ‘’because we found out that not all the products had expired. “Some of them were in the company’s packaging materials when diverted to sell in retail prices online and in the marketplaces.’’

Last year the Agency uncovered two warehouses at Trade Fair Complex, Lagos loaded with N3bn worth of Counterfeit drugs and children’s cereals picked from dump sites.

‘’We also must sensitize the industry because if there are compromises in the industry it could lead to serious dangers to our health’’, she said, stressing that ‘’If the SOP in the industry says go and dump it in a dump site, the industry is at fault also’’.

She noted with a voice laden with grief that ‘’If the person that got it stolen from the factory is going to sell it less than the packaged material from the company, people will want to buy even if it has later been contaminated.

She, however, called for the investigation and prosecution of those who took the products from the dump site for sale, adding that ‘’our climate is not very helpful when it comes to food preservation. ‘If it is in the open air, it’s going to start getting degraded. That’s why we should avoid exposure of food to the elements.

The DG who noted that she put a lot of premiums on food, added that ‘’the food we eat may make us ill and to be more dependent on medicine. If we make sure that people eat quality food, they will take less medicine.’’

She, however, urged manufacturers of food products to always be more concerned about their products in the market by establishing a Post Market Surveillance unit in their companies. She recalled that years ago, the Agency had made Post Marketing Surveillance (PMS) mandatory for companies, but compliance has been poor. She, however, stated that henceforth, if a company doesn’t have Post Marketing Surveillance or Post Marketing Pharmacovigilance (for drug manufacturing Companies) department, the product will not be renewed.

‘’We have asked companies to establish PMS dept where they send people out to the market to see what is happening to their products out there. Once you get an inkling of somebody adulterating your product you call us because you don’t have the power to go with the police.

“We have the power to go and raid. That’s why we need collaboration because we must change our industrial practice.

“That’s how to get the best out of your trade. Once you tell us, I assure you we will be there in hours in terms of mopping it up and getting the suspect arrested and prosecuted.

The Agency strongly calls for more food safety consciousness and compliance for continuous improvement in imbibing a food safety culture amongst industry players and consumers.

This, she said, will make for the desired conformance to safety practices in the processing production, packaging, distribution, and storage of pre-packaged foods.
‘’NAFDAC will continue to advocate for the support of her partners and stakeholders in the quest for better, safer, healthier, more nutritious food. We all stand to benefit from this as we are all consumers’’.
