Ten Nigerian Senators And Fifteen Members of the House of Representatives have been reported to covid-19 .

Also there is a report coming from the Senate about the death of Rose Oko.

Senator Rose Oko was reported dead on Monday night at her Abuja residence after returning from a medical trip from the U. K

Born on the 27 September 1956, Senator Rose Okoji Oko is a Nigerian politician and senator representing Northern Cross River In the National Assembly.

She was a Member of the Federal House of Representatives from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Cross River State and represented the People of Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s 7th class of the National Assembly.

She has been a a member of the national Assembly since June 2011
and sat as Deputy Chairman House Committee on Education.

Reports are however not clear for now if she died of COVID-19

The Nigeria Centre for disease control confirms four more cases of covid-19.

Three cases in Lagos and one in the federal capital.

Two of these cases are returning travellers

This brings the total of course firmed cases to 40.

There are reports that about thirty five senators who just returned from a conference in the U.K may have been affected

The said Senators after a return trip from the U.K where they attended the petroleum industry workshop in London,a place where the covid-19 outbreak is endemic.

The Senators at risk here are members of the Senate committee on Upstream Downstream and gas.

Two Female Senators are among among, and since their return on March 14,they have been resuming at the Chambers to Participate in Legislative activities, an action that poses a great Danger to other Members of the upper Chamber.

A Sixty seven year old man has denied of covid-19 in Nigeria, making the first death recorded since the spread of the virus to Nigeria

The victim who died at the Gwagwalada hospital in the early hours of Monday morning .He was a retiree of the Nigeria national petroleum corporation,and returned from the U.K about Ten days ago, he was on self isolation before he developed complications from the virus and later died.

The deceased man was reported to have been on treatment for other ailment before he tested positive to covid-19.

The son of former vice president Mohammed Atiku Abubakar has tested positive to covid-19

The Confirmation of Mohammed Atiku brings to a total of thirty one cases for Nigeria .

The news was confirmed by the Vice President himself, and that he has been to Specialist Gwagwalada hospital ,the centre designated for covid-19 in the federal capital territory.

To Certain the spread of covid-19,The federal and State governments have put various measures in place to close contacts between people.

Among such measures are the stay at home order for civil servants from level 1-12, the mandatory use of nose mask for for commercial drivers and conductors and the ban on large public gatherings

PRESS RELEASE

Lagos State government has ordered all bus drivers and conductors to wear masks and gloves while driving, as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.

This was disclosed in a press Release by the ministry of Transportation said this in a statement in which it outlined various preventive guidelines for all public transport operators.

Beyond wearing gloves and masks, drivers have been asked to sanitize their parks and garages.

The government has also stated that all commercial buses including the yellow buses to avoid loading passengers to full capacity but should keep it at 60% capacity, while also ensuring that there is enough space (at least 2m or 5feet) between passengers.

“Passenger are also expected to report any Operator/Company that does not comply with these guidelines to the Monitoring Officer at sight or write to the Ministry, stating the Vehicle Registration Number, Park and Time,” the statement read.

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH OSAGIE EHANIRE HAS ANNOUNCED ANOTHER THREE CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19 IN ABUJA.

WITH THE NEW CASES DISCOVERED IN ABUJA NIGERIA NOW HAS A TOTAL OF TWENTY SIX CASES FOR THE COUNTRY.

THE FIRST CONFIRMED CASE IS A 53 YEARS OLD MILITARY OFFICER WHO RETURNED TO NIGERIA ON MARCH 14TH FROM UNITED KINGDOM. HE HAS BEEN IN SELF ISOLATION.

THE SECOND CASE, A 31 YEAR OLD MALE BUSINESS MAN WHO RETURNED TO THE COUNTRY ON MARCH 17TH FROM VISITS TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, SWITZERLAND AND FRANCE. HE RETURNED THROUGH EMIRATE AIRLINE BUT DID NOT GO INTO ISOLATION.

THE THIRD CASE INVOLVED A 20 YEAR OLD FEMALE STUDENT WHO ARRIVED ON MARCH 18TH FROM UNITED KINGDOM THROUGH LUFTHANSA AIRLINE AND HAD ALSO BEEN FREELY ASSOCIATING BEFORE BEING DISCOVERED TO HAVE THE DISEASE.

ALSO A SUSPECTED CORONA VIRUS CASE IN BODIJA, OYO STATE HAS TESTED POSITIVE

THIS WAS MADE KNOWN BY THE STATE GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE WHO EXPLAINED THAT THE OYO STATE GOVERNMENT IS COLLABORATING WITH THE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE HOSPITAL IBADAN ON THE CASE

GOVERNOR MAKINDE ALSO STATED THAT THE COVID-19 TASKFORCE SET UP IN THE STATE IS INTENSIFYING CONTACT TRACING IN ONA ARA LOCAL GOVERNMENT WHERE THE DECEASED AMERICAN WHOSE CASE WAS CONFIRMED IN EKITI, STAYED BRIEFLY.

THE OYO STATE GOVERNOR CLARIFIED THAT HEALTH AUTHORITIES HAVE CONTACTED THE FAMILY AND THE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN PUT ON THE ALERT WITH A NOTICE FOR SELF ISOLATION OF IDENTIFIED CLOSE CONTACTS

THE STATE HAS ALSO IDENTIFIED ANOTHER RETURNEE FROM THE US STATE OF TEXAS WHO IT SAYS IS UNDER SELF ISOLATION AND CLOSELY MONITORED BY THE STATE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL TEAM.
