The Health Minister of Britain NADINE DORRIES has gone into isolation after testing positive to covid -19 .

The Minister said she has had taken all the advised precautionary measures.

Six people have died so far of the disease in the U.K since the outbreak of the disease in Wuhan China in 2019.

Ahead of heavy Rain forecast in Nigeria, Residents of Lagos state have been charged to prepare against flood.

The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello who disclosed this to newsmen said the figure was based on the forecasts of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NMET).

Considering the peculiarity of Lagos as a coastal state and its strategic position as the economic hub of the nation Bello said it was necessary to prepared ahead of time to mitigate the posible adverse effects of the seasonal rain fall.

He disclosed noted that the state government is doing much in this regard also to reduce possible effect,and one of such steps is to go tough against indiscriminate refuse disposal,especially on the drainage systems.

Tunji Bello said building of houses on water ways and sand filling drainage channels without permission will no longer be allowed in the state.

Markets with dirty environments are not to be spared.

The Patient with the secondary case of covid-19 Virus is to be managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital at Yaba in Lagos.
The LagosCommissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi who disclosed this today at a news conference to give updates on #COVID19Lagos explained that the patient who tested positive to #COVID19 is one of the 40 persons who had close contact with the index case.
According him, the 40 persons had been in isolation at Lafarge health facility in Ewekoro in Ogun state since the confirmation of the index case.
The second confirmed case of COVID-19 indicates the first person-to-person transmission in Nigeria according to the Commissioner.
He noted that Lagos State Government through the State Ministry of Health has resolved to take responsibility for the management of the secondary case because State has the required facility and equipment for proper management of highly infectious diseases.
The Commissioner said the resolve to take responsibility for the management of the patient is because Lagos State is not ready to take chances with the spread of the disease especially when proximity of both States is taken into consideration.
The Commissioner assured members of the public not to panic stating that government will continue to respond swiftly and take necessary actions to contain the spread of the disease.
He noted that the fact that the patient had been previously isolated limit the number of possible contacts he must have had.

A SECOND CASE OF COVID-19 HAS BEEN RECORDED IN OGUN STATE , NIGERIA.

THE PATIENT WAS SAID TO HAVE HAD DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE INDEX ITALIAN CASE.

THE PATIENT IS SAID TO BE UNDERGOING TREATMENT AT THE ISOLATION CENTER IN LAGOS.

THE LATEST CASE WAS CONFIRMED BY THE MINISTER OF HEALTH OSAGIE EHANIRE DURING A PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN TEACHING HOSPITAL IN EDO STATE.

OTHER CONTACTS OF THE INDEX CASE ACCORDING TO THE MINISTER ARE STILL BEING MONITORED.

THE MINISTER ALSO ADVISED NIGERIAN TO IMPROVE ON THEIR LEVEL OF PERSONAL AND ENVIROMENTAL HYGIENE AND NOT BELIEVE THE FAKE RUMOURS MAKING THE ROUND THAT THE VIRUS DOES NOT SURVIVE IN HIGH TEMPERATE REGION.

The Lagos State Government Government says it is intensifying efforts in the search for two more persons yet to be identified who were amongst the passengers aboard the Turkish airline the index case flew on.

Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi who disclosed this Thursday to journalists while giving updates on the #COVID-19 control efforts in Lagos, explained that out of the 15 people who were yet to be identified as at Wednesday 4th March, 13 had been identified bringing the number of unidentified passengers who came aboard the flight to Lagos to two.

The Commissioner had earlier Wednesday said that the Turkish Airline boarded by the #COVID-19Lagos index case had 149 passengers on board noting that 15 out of the 80 passengers on the flight who are Lagos based were yet to be identified.

He said the State government will continue in its search for yet to be identified persons and will not rest on its oars until everyone on the flight who reside in Lagos are identified.

He noted that the World Health Organization is assisting with contact tracing of passengers on the same flight who had left the shores of Nigeria, adding that Lagos State Government is practicing very aggressive public health surveillance as a measure to break the circle of transmission of #COVID-19 in the State

While responding to questions on the index case who is presently in isolation at the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospita, Abayomi said the patient is clinically stable and responding well to treatment.

The Commissioner however disclosed that a suspected case of #COVID-19 is presently in isolation at the Mainland Hospital,bringing to a total number of three Persons now in Isolation in Lagos State.

Said he, “The suspect; a Nigerian who had stayed in France for seven days and returned to Lagos Nigeria three days ago presenting with headache and some respiratory symptoms, and because he has been in a country where there is active person to person transmission, it could be a common cold but there is a possibility that he could be COVID-19.
