Don’t Let What You’ve Been Through Convince You That The Suffering is Permanent

18/12/24

GOSPEL CORNER

Today’s Scripture
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5, NKJV

Joy Is Coming
You may go through seasons of weeping, of sorrow, of pain. But when you’re in the suffering and the struggle, you can’t see what God is about to do. All you can see is more of the same. It seems like there’s no way out. But notice that the psalmist says weeping “may” endure, which means it’s not certain, it’s questionable. Don’t let what you’ve been through convince you that the suffering is permanent.

God’s promise is that joy is coming—not maybe, not hope so, not there’s a good chance. The Most High God says that joy is on the way. That means no more heartache, no more mourning, no more loneliness. Those tears of sadness are coming to an end. God is about to do a new thing. You’re going to laugh again, you’re going to dream again, you’re going to love again. You’re going to see God’s blessing in such a way that you’ll have tears of joy, tears of gratitude, tears of thanksgiving. Get ready to laugh in amazement, laugh in gratefulness, laugh with songs of joy.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that in times of sadness, when I don’t see the way out of suffering or a loss seems too great, I can know that the morning is coming and the tears of sorrow will be turned to joy. I believe Your promise is on the way and I will laugh in amazement and gratefulness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

SECTION TWO

My friend, here’s some more good news: every time you fail, there is fresh grace from Jesus to rescue you. Every time you fall short, confess your righteousness in Jesus by faith. I know you probably won’t feel particularly righteous, and that is why you need to say it by faith.

I have received so many testimonies of breakthroughs from people around the world who, even as they succumb to their addictions, would confess, “Even right now, I am the righteousness of God in Christ” and eventually found freedom from their bondages. It could be a smoking addiction or an alcohol or pornography addiction.

Michael, a brother in Australia, happily shared, “I have just given up smoking by following what you’ve taught in your books and DVDs (about being conscious of and confessing my righteousness in Christ) whenever I was tempted to smoke. I have also been set free from twenty years of drug and alcohol abuse and am free of paranoid thoughts. I couldn’t give them up through my own efforts, but through Christ I have.”

The more these people confessed and saw themselves as righteous in Jesus, even in the midst of their failings, the more they came to see their true identity in Christ. The dead leaves began to fall, and they came to the place where they didn’t have any desire to ever smoke another cigarette, drink another drop of alcohol, or visit another pornographic website.

New leaves, new flowers, and new fruits unconsciously and effortlessly sprang up in their lives. Grace put an end to the barrenness and torment of winter and ushered in perpetual spring for them.

Beloved, if you are grappling with something right now, stop struggling and start receiving. Start receiving the abundance of the Lord’s unmerited favor. Start receiving the free gift of His righteousness. Start receiving the cleansing power of His forgiveness. There is nothing for you to do but to soak it all up and to allow His resurrection power to drive out every symptom of death and decay in your circumstances and in your life.

Can I give you an assignment today? Every time you fail, come into God’s presence and pray today’s prayer. His grace will lift you up!

Today’s Word

Today’s Scripture
Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies.
Philippians 1:28, NLT

NO INTIMIDATION
You have gifts and talents that you’ve not tapped into yet. There is a treasure inside you, but negative thoughts will try to keep it pushed down. The enemy doesn’t want you to reach your full potential. There are forces constantly trying to make you feel intimidated, inferior, and unqualified. You may be flooded with doubts and feelings of fear, thinking of all the things that can go wrong. If you’re going to fulfill your destiny, you have to shake off the negative voices. Shake off the thoughts that are telling you, “I am unable. I am unqualified.” Don’t invite weakness. Don’t give intimidation an invitation. You may feel unqualified, but before you were born, God equipped you. He empowered you. You are not lacking anything. God has already stamped His approval on you. People may try to push you down, but when you know Almighty God has approved you, you realize, “I don’t need other people’s approval. I’ve been equipped, empowered, and anointed by the Creator of the universe.” Stay in agreement with God and declare who you are and know who you are not.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I am Your child, a victor and not a victim of the enemy’s intimidation. Thank You for the promise that You have approved me, equipped me, and empowered me. I declare that I am staying in agreement with what You say about who I am. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

SECTION TWO

I often hear people say, “God’s love is unconditional!” But the moment they fail, all of a sudden, the love they once said was unconditional becomes contingent upon their behavior.

Many believe that God loves them when they do right, but stops loving them the moment they do something wrong. Well, I’m going to shatter that wrong belief into smithereens with the truth of God’s Word!

While our love for God can fluctuate, His love for us always remains constant. His love for us is based on who He is and not based on what we do.

I love just how confident and emphatic the apostle Paul is when he says, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:38–39). In the New International Version, it says, “For I am convinced . . .”

Are you persuaded and convinced the way the apostle Paul is that as a child of God, nothing, not even your sins, failings, and mistakes, can ever separate you from the love of God? Don’t go by what you feel, think, or have been taught. God’s Word proclaims in no uncertain terms that nothing can separate you from His love. Nothing means nothing!

So the next time you do something wrong, hold fast to His love as unconditional. Receive His love afresh, and you will have the power to overcome that failing—and every struggle—every time.

His love for you is not contingent on your immaculate performance. He loves you even in your failings. That’s why it is called grace! It is the undeserved, unmerited, and unearned favor of God. If you can deserve God’s grace, then it is no longer grace.

God does not want you to focus on all the darkness, terror, and evil that are around you and in the world…

16/12/24

Gospel Corner

Remember how Noah was safe in the ark when the floodwaters came? While Noah was not perfect, God saw him as righteous because of his faith in God (Heb. 11:7).

When the flood came, everyone outside the ark died, but Noah and his family were protected and saved. Why? Because they were in the ark, which is a type of Christ, who is our salvation (Acts 4:12).

The ark didn’t have windows along its sides, only near the roof. The truth here is that God does not want you to focus on all the darkness, terror, and evil that are around you and in the world. He wants you to look up and know that His Son is coming back for you.

I want you to see something else: I believe there were times when Noah might have lost his balance and fallen as the storm waters crashed against the ark. But Noah fell in the ark; he never fell out of the ark.

Similarly, for the believer today, when the devil tempts you and you fall, you don’t fall out of your position in Christ; you are still in Christ. In the book of Proverbs, it says, “For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again” (Prov. 24:16).

You see, a believer doesn’t fall in and out of righteousness. Our righteousness today is a gift from our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:17). This means that even though we may fail from time to time because we are imperfect human beings, we are still in Christ our ark and do not forfeit His blessings of protection.

Now, in case you are wondering, does this make someone want to live recklessly? Certainly not! I believe that knowing you are righteous in Christ makes you live responsibly and in honor to the Lord (Rom. 6:10–14). The revelation of our righteousness in Christ produces righteous living (Titus 2:11–12).

Do Not Allow Fear To Hold You In Its Paralyzing Grip. Speak Forth The Written Word Of God!

Gospel Corner

15/12/24

Let me show you examples of how you can use the written Word to come against the attacks of the enemy. Let’s say that while driving to work one morning, you hear some professor saying over the radio, “One in every five women will develop this disease by the age of forty.”

That’s the time you must say, “It is written—’Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence'” (Ps. 91:3). If you do this, you are putting up a shield of faith and you are releasing power as you declare that regardless of what the reports of the world say, your God shall deliver you from every deadly disease!

Here’s another example of when and how you can quote the written Word. Suppose for some reason, you are crippled by vivid images in your mind of yourself dying young and leaving your spouse and little ones to fend for themselves. Again, this is the time to speak the Word of God against those fears. Declare, “It is written—’With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation'” (Ps. 91:16).

Maybe you might know of an acquaintance who was killed in a fatal accident. Now, you are fearful that the same thing might happen to you. My friend, the enemy has just shot you with a fiery dart. We do not know what the other person believed. We can only be responsible for our own beliefs and lives.

Perhaps your relatives or family members have died from the same illness and the enemy is now attacking you with thoughts that you will also develop diabetes like your father and uncle did, or die from the same heart condition they had.

My friend, if you have been entertaining thoughts like these, NOW is the time to rise up and make this declaration: “A thousand may fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand, but it shall NOT come near me” (Ps. 91:7)!

For something to happen at your right hand means that it has to be really close to you. This means that even if something unfortunate happens to someone close to you, do not allow fear to hold you in its paralyzing grip. Speak forth the written Word of God!

LASHMA REWARDS EXCELLENCE IN HEALTHCARE, HONOURS STAKEHOLDERS FOR ADVANCING UHC IN LAGOS

Press Release

14/12/24

In commemoration of the 2024 Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day, the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) hosted a Stakeholders’ Appreciation and Recognition Award Ceremony at Providence Hotel, GRA, Ikeja. The event brought together policymakers, healthcare providers, health management organizations, pharmaceutical service providers, the media, and other key players to celebrate their contributions toward equitable and quality healthcare under the ILERA EKO Social Health Insurance Scheme.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving UHC. She lauded the theme, “Health: It’s on the (House) Government”, as a reflection of government leadership in ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare.

“Through ILERA EKO, we are bridging gaps in healthcare access for all Lagosians,” Dr. Zamba said. She highlighted the scheme’s milestones, including over one million enrollees and the establishment of the Eko Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) for vulnerable populations.

Dr. Zamba attributed LASHMA’s success to the unwavering commitment of stakeholders. “Your innovative approaches, dedication, and tireless advocacy are the backbone of our achievements. Today, we celebrate not just the milestones but the extraordinary individuals and organizations that made them possible,” she remarked. She also called on the awardees to remain ambassadors of UHC, inspiring others to join the movement for a healthier Lagos.

In her remarks, Permanent Secretary, Health District VI, Dr. Abimbola Mabogunje, commended LASHMA for the event, underscoring the importance of health insurance in achieving UHC. “Access to affordable healthcare should not lead to out-of-pocket financial strain. Health insurance bridges this gap, and ILERA EKO is a testament to that,” she said.

Dr. Mabogunje, commended LASHMA for its proactive efforts in reducing out-of-pocket expenses through health insurance. “Primary healthcare is pivotal, and LASHMA is setting the pace for universal health access in Lagos,” she said. She congratulated the award recipients for their dedication to improving health outcomes in the state.

Senior Health Specialist with USAID-LHSS, Dr. Chidumga Ohazurike, applauded LASHMA’s progress and recognized the vital role of healthcare providers. “Your dedication proves profit isn’t the sole goal; it’s about improving health indices in Lagos,” Dr. Ohazurike noted, calling for sustained collaboration.

Dr. Chidumga Ohazurike praised LASHMA’s achievements, stating, “We’ve witnessed LASHMA grow significantly, with impactful results that inspire confidence in the future of health insurance in Lagos.”

Similarly, Manager, Solina Centre for International Development and Research, Mr. King Ewa-Henshaw, celebrated LASHMA’s digital innovations in healthcare delivery. “LASHMA has set the pace in equitable digit-first care, and we are proud to support their journey towards UHC,” he remarked.

The ceremony saw the presentation of various awards to outstanding contributors in the health sector. St. Nicholas Hospitals received the Clinical Excellence Award for delivering quality patient care, while Aruna Ogun Memorial Specialist Hospital was honored with the Patient Safety Champion Award for advancing a culture of safety. Esso Hospital clinched the Community Health and Wellness Award for its advocacy and innovative health initiatives.

In the health management category, Phillips HMO Limited emerged as the Best Performing Third-Party Administrator, and Nectarite Pharmacy, Alimosho, was named the Best Performing Community Pharmacy. HCI Healthcare Limited received the Excellence in Compliance with Quarterly Returns award for consistent regulatory adherence.

Recognizing excellence in media, Lagos State Government was awarded Best Online Media Reporter for promoting ILERA EKO initiatives, while Angela Onwuzoo won Best Print Journalist for her impactful stories on health awareness. TV journalist Titilayo Abereowo and radio host Adeolu Okunade (Mr. Pilot) were honored for their exceptional health advocacy through broadcast media.

General Hospital Ikorodu and Crystal Specialist Hospital were lauded for their data reporting accuracy, while healthcare providers like Perfect Eyes Eye Clinic and Nene Dental received recognition for outstanding service delivery in optical and dental care, respectively.

In a special category, Dr. Osinachi Ubani of Oshodi Primary Health Center won the Leadership in Quality Improvement Award, while 10 healthcare professionals, including Dorcas Nyanah of Ikorodu General Hospital, were recognized as Healthcare Quality Champions.

Addressing the awardees, Dr. Zamba urged them to keep the momentum. “These achievements are a legacy for future generations,” she said. The event closed with a collective commitment to strengthen partnerships for a healthier and more equitable Lagos.

The awards served as a testament to the progress made under the ILERA EKO scheme and a rallying call for stakeholders to sustain their efforts in achieving universal health coverage in Lagos State.

Today’s Scripture
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Romans 8:37, NIV

More Than a Conqueror
The apostle Paul experienced all kinds of persecution, hardships, suffering, and heartache. Many people did unfair things to him; others lied about him. Nevertheless, he said, “In spite of all these things we are more than conquerors through Christ.” That’s the kind of attitude we need to have. Paul realized that we can have trouble and challenges all around us yet have peace inside. We don’t use our faith to try to get rid of our problems. Rather, we use our faith to remain calm in the midst of our problems and live in victory.

Every day you will have opportunities to lose your peace. Somebody may be rude to you, or your boss may not give you credit for what you’ve done, or someone may walk away from your relationship. Maybe you’ve been in a difficult situation for a long time, and you’re tempted to lose your peace over what you can’t change. Paul says to turn the situation completely over to God, knowing that nothing can separate you from the love of God. Stay at rest in the God who is in control.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the promise of an overwhelming victory through Jesus. Thank You for Your love and that I am Your child, a victor and not a victim of circumstances. I’m going to stay in peace knowing that no obstacle that stands in my way can stop Your plan. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

SECTION TWO

The feeding of the 5,000 is the only miracle Jesus performed that is recorded in all of the four Gospel accounts! This tells us that Jesus wants us to draw out all the hidden revelations in this miracle. Are you ready?

Now, did you notice how John records that the people ate “as much as they wanted” until “they were FILLED” (John 6:11)? In other words, they ate and ate until they could eat no more! Everyone ate to his heart’s content and still there was plenty left over—12 baskets full, to be precise!

God’s supply of provision will always exceed your demand! He is such a BIG God, there is nothing He cannot do. My friend, don’t look to the world to supply your lack. Be wise—don’t touch easy loans with exorbitant interest rates hidden in the fine print, and become trapped in a financially sapping cycle of debt. Look to Jesus, His ways and His supply that never fails!

Every enemy in your life has already been defeated—enemies of worry, depression, addiction, financial lack—and you have power over all of them. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is inside you.

Today’s Scripture
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”
Galatians 3:13, NIV

Redeemed
The curse that Christ has already redeemed us from is behind any kind of defeat—sin, mistakes, wrong choices, fear, worry, sickness, or unhealthy relationships. God has loosed our chains of addictions, defeats, and bad attitudes. But if you don’t realize you have been set free and take advantage of your freedom, if you don’t get your thoughts, your words, and your attitudes going in the right direction, it won’t do you any good.

Every enemy in your life has already been defeated—enemies of worry, depression, addiction, financial lack—and you have power over all of them. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is inside you. There is nothing in your life that you cannot overcome. But you may be sitting back waiting for God to do something supernatural in your life when God is waiting for you. You have to believe that the price has been paid and you have the power to break free from things that have held you back in the past. Put your foot down and take hold of everything Christ has done for you.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You have made me Your child and that I am no longer under the curse of the law. Thank You that You redeemed me and You’re taking me forward into full freedom. I believe that every enemy in my life has been defeated and that the obstacles in my way will be overcome. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Do you feel as though you are trapped on a never-ending treadmill based on your own efforts to try to earn God’s forgiveness, God’s approval, and God’s acceptance? That is Christian religion.

If you are trying to earn your own forgiveness and thinking that God is constantly mad at you, I am here to tell you that is not the heart of God.

When Jesus spoke of “the unforced rhythms of grace,” He means that there is an ease and enjoyment when you walk in His grace. This is in contrast to the struggle and strain found in self-effort. There is such rest when you know there is nothing you can do to earn His forgiveness.

Give up on your own self-righteousness, which the Bible describes as “filthy rags” (Isa. 64:6), and with open arms and an open heart, receive His forgiveness!

The key to getting out of a cycle of sin and defeat is to receive and to stop beating yourself up. Receive and stop punishing yourself because your sins have already been punished on the body of another—His name is Jesus, our beautiful Lord and Savior. No wonder the gospel is called the good news.

When you understand God’s grace and forgiveness, you will understand the difference between obligation and relationship. Under the old covenant of the law, right living is done out of religious obligation. Under the new covenant of grace, every thing we do today is birthed out of an inward motivation that flows directly from a love relationship with Jesus.

My friend, God is not a legalist. He doesn’t want you to read His Word just because He said so, as a religious obligation. He wants you to experience His love and spend time in His Word because you want to enjoy His sweet presence.

You can read His Word out of legalism and to try to earn God’s forgiveness and acceptance, or you can do it out of relationship because you know you have been forgiven. The reality is, when you don’t read the Bible, you should not be feeling guilty; you should be feeling hungry.

Jesus invites you to experience “the unforced rhythms of grace.” Keep company with Him and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly!

Today’s Word

Today’s Scripture
“The Son of Man…‘a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’”
Luke 7:34, NIV

A True Friend
Jesus was the friend of sinners. He lived as a healer, a restorer of those who got off course. Somebody once said, “A true friend walks in when everybody else walks out. A true friend doesn’t rub it in when you make a mistake. They help rub it out.” That is exactly what Jesus did, and that is what we should do. It doesn’t mean you overlook wrongs and act as if they never happened. But you understand that if it were not for the grace of God, you, too, could be in need of healing. When you show mercy to the guilty, when you encourage the discouraged, when you lift people up as everyone else is pushing them down, your actions touch the heart of God in a very special way.

Are you sensitive to the needs of those around you? When you make it your business to befriend and help God’s children—His sons, His daughters—by wiping their tears or lifting them when they are down, be prepared: You will not be able to outrun the goodness of God.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the people You have placed in my life and the special role You have given me as a friend. Thank You that You can take my words of encouragement and bring healing and renewed strength. Help me to see who I can befriend and lift up today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

One of my favorite stories is of Jesus healing a woman bowed over with a spirit of infirmity for 18 years. Imagine never being able to see the sky or rainbows, but only the dust of the earth and the grubby feet of people—what a painful existence!

I love how Jesus saw her and immediately called her over to receive a miracle from Him. The woman had been bound in this condition for 18 years, a number which represents bondage in the Bible.

When Jesus said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity,” He was proclaiming liberty over her and setting her free from the bondage of the devil. He laid hands on her and she immediately received her healing.

Today, you have already been set free from the curse of disease by Jesus’ one perfect sacrifice at the cross. Proclaim your liberty won by His finished work!

The enemy’s goal is to deceive them into living condemned.

Stop Listening To the Voice Of The Accuser

Gospel Corner

JOEL OSTEEN MINISTRIES
Today’s Word

Today’s Scripture
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1, 4, NIV

According to the Spirit
Too many people go around feeling bad about themselves. When they sin and make mistakes, instead of receiving God’s mercy and moving forward, they listen to the voice of the accuser. That voice constantly rails at them about their mistakes, their blown diets, their temper tantrums, and their shortcomings. After so long, they are weighed down with guilt. The enemy’s goal is to deceive them into living condemned.

The last four words of today’s Scripture are so important. When you sin and make mistakes, if you are in the flesh, you beat yourself up. You feel guilty and unworthy. You live depressed and defeated. But choosing that response will leave you on a dead-end street. Instead, embrace the Spirit and say, “Yes, I made mistakes. It was my fault. But I know the moment I repent of my sins and ask for forgiveness, God will forgive me and forget my sins so I can move ahead. Jesus Christ paid the price for my sins and failures two thousand years ago on the cross at Calvary. I am redeemed. I am free.”

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I am forgiven. Thank You that I am redeemed by the blood of Your Son. Thank You that the price for my sins has been paid once and for all. I receive Your love and forgiveness and refuse to live under guilt and condemnation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

SECTION TWO

In many places today, all you hear is more teaching on right doing, right doing, and more right doing! But I believe what we need is more teaching on right believing. What we need to do is keep pointing people to Jesus, His grace, His finished work, and His forgiveness.

I have no doubt then that their right believing will produce right living. They will become people whose hope is not in the righteousness they can produce, but in the gift of righteousness from Jesus Christ and what Jesus can produce in them.

Let me share with you a testimony I received from Lucas that demonstrates this truth:

Even though I was raised in a Christian home with parents who are both totally dedicated to Jesus, I fell into drug abuse. I tried attending church, but listening to the sermons made me feel like I just couldn’t confess my sins enough, repent enough, or hate my sins enough to get God’s forgiveness.

Then one day a very dear friend gave me a copy of your book, Destined To Reign. The book rocked my spiritual world. I saw that sin was not the issue. The issue was not understanding the grace of my wonderful Lord and Savior. When I saw the finished work of Jesus, I realized that God is not up there with a big stick waiting for me to mess up so that He can beat me with it.

As I continued reading your book and feeding on the gospel of grace, I was set free from a five-year drug addiction in just five days! And I know it’s all through the sweet, sweet grace of Jesus being revealed in my life.

Thank you, Pastor Prince, for your book, resources, and sermons. I want to know this God of grace more, and I want my family to also know Him as a God of grace and not a God of law who condemns His children. I have never known a loving God as I do right now!

Can you see how powerful living with a consciousness of Jesus’ forgiveness can be? Sin has no dominion over your life when you are under grace. Sin cannot take root in your life when you are established in God’s forgiveness.

Receiving His forgiveness and gift of righteousness puts you in a cycle of victory over sin, whereas those who receive condemnation for every wrong thought in their mind enter into a never-ending cycle of defeat. Do you see the difference?

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Live in Amazement
How alive are you today? Are you passionate about your life or are you stuck in a rut, letting the pressures of life weigh you down, or taking for granted what you have? You weren’t created to simply exist, to endure, or to go through the motions; you were created to be really alive. You have seeds of greatness inside. There’s something more for you to accomplish. The day you quit being excited about your future is the day you go from living to merely existing.

We all have seen God’s goodness in some way. We know it was His hand of favor. Don’t let it become ordinary. We should live in amazement at what God has done. Do you have healthy children, people to love, a place to work? Do you realize your gifts and talents come from God? Do you recognize that there are miracles all around you? Don’t take them for granted. Don’t let what was once a miracle become so common that it’s ordinary. Fan your flames. Stir up your gifts.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for Your goodness in my life, the amazing things You have done. Thank You that You are breathing new life into me at this very moment. I am shaking off the blahs, fanning the flames, and stirring up my gift, and I believe You are restoring my passion. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
