GOSPEL CORNER:THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM

25/02/24

If God tells us that wisdom is the principal thing, then it behooves us to know and operate in the “spirit of wisdom.” But do you know what the “spirit of wisdom” is?

Look at the prayer (above) that the apostle Paul prayed over the church in Ephesus. The spirit of wisdom and revelation is in the knowledge of Jesus! The more you know Jesus and have a revelation of His unmerited favor in your life, the more you will have the spirit of wisdom.

***I challenge you to pray this prayer for wisdom on a regular basis because when you increase in the knowledge of Jesus, He will surely lead you to good success in every aspect of your life.

Note that when Paul was praying this prayer for the believers in Ephesus, they were already filled with the Holy Spirit. But Paul still prayed that God would give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in their knowledge of Jesus.

It is one thing to have the Holy Spirit inside you, but it is another thing to let the Holy Spirit inside you flow as the spirit of wisdom and revelation. And as you pray to be led by the spirit of wisdom today, be confident that you will experience the Holy Spirit leading you in Jesus’ divine and unmatched wisdom.

When the Holy Spirit leads you in the wisdom of Jesus, there will be no impossible situation, no insolvable problem, and no insurmountable crisis. The wisdom of Jesus in you will help you to successfully navigate all your trials and cause you to prevail over all your challenges!

LAGOS CONDUCTS TRAINING FOR MEDIA PRACTITIONERS

24/02/24

PRESS RELEASE

DANIELS OG TO

Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, has advocated a change in mindset and reporting concerning Domestic and sexual violence crimes in the media.

The  Executive Secretary, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi stated this at a One-Day training on Investigating and Reporting Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Lagos, organized for Media Practitioners drawn from the various Media Houses and Online Media platforms at the LCCI conference center on the 22nd of February, 2024.

According to her,  “There was a need to build the ability of the media to report Sexual and Gender-Based violence cases in a more gender-sensitive approach”.

Titilola Vivour- Adeniyi

Emphasizing the right choice of words used whilst reporting, especially for headlines, is of utmost importance in sending a deterrence message and not overly sensationalizing the reporting of Domestic and Sexual violence cases in the press.

Vivour-Adeniyi reiterated the fact that the media serve as a powerful disseminator of information, and therefore holds a crucial role in shaping perceptions, influencing attitudes, and catalyzing societal change.

Media practitioners serve as the conduits through which stories are told, truths are uncovered, and voices are amplified. Yet, with this profound influence comes a weighty responsibility—a responsibility to uphold the principles of ethical journalism, to safeguard the dignity of survivors, and to foster a culture of empathy, understanding, and accountability.

Also at the event, the Director of Administration, Centre for Women’s Health and Information, Atinuke Odukoya, said the training was critical because it would help media practitioners become more informed about the intricacies of Gender Based Violence, nuances as well as the different forms of violence. The challenges victims and survivors experience in their quest for justice

“The Media is powerful and it can change people’s perception, and tell us what our norms are in the society by reporting it”.  Odukoya added.

Atinuke Odukoya

Odukoya, who said that all hands must be on deck to fight the dehumanization and molestation of girls and women in society, urged the media personnel to see themselves as duty bearers, adding that we must all play our role if we are to rid the vicious menace out of our society.

On his part, The Head of the Community Engagement Department, DSVA, Damilare Adewusi informed the participants of the various support services the State Government provides freely for the Lagosians, ranging from medical, legal services, empowerment, psycho-social support, and law enforcement.

He further noted that the zero-tolerance stance by the State government is hewn to ensure that all crimes must be subjugated, and survivors get Justice for crimes perpetrated against them.

Cross Section Of Participants

Understanding the relevant laws by Tope Oyedija, Introduction to Sexual and Gender Based Violence by Atinuke Odukoya, Exploring Existing State Structures and Services for Survivors of Rape, Domestic Violence and Child Abuse by Damilare Adewusi and Best Practices for Reporting Sexual and Gender-Based Violence by Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni were sessions delivered to the media practitioners at the event.

A Handbook for Media  Practitioners on

Best Practices for  Reporting

Sexual and Gender-Based violence was sent to the Media Representatives at the event.

GOSPEL CORNER : FEARING PEOPLE IS A DANGEROUS TRAP, BUT TRUSTING THE LORD MEANS SAFETY.

24/02/24

JOEL OSTEEN MINISTRIES
Today’s Word

Today’s Scripture
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety.
Proverbs 29:25, NLT

A DANGEROUS TRAP
It is a dangerous trap to let other people’s opinions of you, whether they will approve you, determine what you do or hold you back from doing what you know you should do. It is dangerous because if you fear people, if you live to please them, you can miss your destiny. Sometimes you have to be brave and go it alone. You have to do it without the approval of the people you thought would be for you. Other people may not see what God put in you. They can’t feel what you feel. You don’t have to have their approval. You and God are a majority.

The Almighty God has shone His favor upon you. You can hear God’s voice for your life more than anyone else. Other people may confirm and encourage it, but if what they say doesn’t agree with your spirit, you need to dismiss it. Quit worrying about their opinions and get your approval from Him. Set your face like a flint and say, “God, I’m not living to please people. I’m living to please You.”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that I don’t have to look to someone else to tell me who I am or what I should do. Thank You that I can know Your voice and follow You whether others approve or not. I declare that my identity and value is securely in Your hands and I’m not looking to others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

SECTION TWO

Do you believe that God loves you with an unchanging love today? Even if you’ve just failed or made a mistake? This, my friend, is where the rubber meets the road in our Christian walk every day.

I’m here to tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt that God loves you with an everlasting love. His love for you is unconditional (Titus 3:3–5 NASB).

It is a love that is so pure, pristine, and marvelous. It has nothing to do with your performance, but everything to do with who you are in His eyes—His beloved.

The emphasis of the old covenant of the law was all about your love for God, whereas the emphasis of the new covenant of grace is all about God’s love for you. The sum total of the law under the old covenant is, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (Deut. 6:5, Matt. 22:37, 40).

Let’s be honest here. Have you ever met anyone who can love God this way? Of course not. It’s a human impossibility. The law was designed to show us that we are incapable of loving God perfectly.

Knowing that man wouldn’t be able to fulfill His commandment to love Him with all his heart, all his soul, all his mind, and all his strength, do you know what God did? He demonstrated how only He could love us with all His heart, all His soul, all His mind, and all His strength when He sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from all our sins with His own blood.

That is why the new covenant is all about God’s love for you and not your love for Him!

Under grace, God doesn’t want you to focus your thoughts on, “Do I really love God?” That’s not the focus of the new covenant. Under grace, God wants you to focus on His love for you. Therefore, the questions you should be asking yourself are:

“Do I know how much God loves me today?”

“Do I really believe that God loves me right now?”

Choose to believe right about how God loves you today. It makes all the difference in the world to how quickly you are able to get back on your feet, and go from faith to faith and strength to strength in your walk with Him.

PRESS RELEASE

24/02/24

DANIELS OG

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency on the 23rd of February 2024, continued its Safeguarding the Rights of a Child interactive workshop for Primary school students at Oluwalogbon Nursery and Primary School, Kosofe.

With an attendance of 250 nursery and primary school students drawn from the Kosofe area, the Workshop began with opening remarks by the Desk Counsellor of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Mrs. Ogunmoyin.

Ogunmoyin in her opening remarks encouraged the students to be attentive to the gender and sexual based violence teachings. She stressed that being enlightened was a sure way to keep themselves safe from all forms of abuse.

The first facilitator at the workshop, Miss. Zainab Alaka a safeguarding and Child Protection Officer with the DSVA, helped the students to understand who a child is, the responsibilities of a child, and the rights of a child which she said included: the right to a peaceful home, the right to have a name, right to private and family life amongst others.

She further enlightened the children on child abuse, and its forms and also explained to the students the required relationship to be maintained with the opposite sex.

Lastly, Miss. Alaka ended her session by urging the students to report to the DSVA toll-free line; 08000333333 or any trusted adult if anyone touches them on any of their private parts.

At the next session, Mr. Tobi Ikudayisi a DSVA Community Engagement Officer, engaged the students on the PANTS rule; P- Private parts are always private, A- always remember that your body belongs to you, N- No means No, T- Talk about secrets that upset you, S- Speak up: someone can help you.
He went further to tell the students that when they say ‘No’, they should say it authoritatively.

After the teachings, two representatives from each school were chosen for the recitation of the Pants rules and the winners were awarded gifts.

The students appreciated the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency for the impartation and enlightenment.

With the closing of the workshop at Oluwalogbon Nursery and Primary School, a total number of 2400 Primary and Secondary School students have been engaged on their rights by the Agency.

So far, the Agency has engaged students in Ikorodu, Shomolu, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Apapa, Ojo, Amuwo Odofin, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Badagry, Epe, Lagos Island and Kosofe areas of Lagos State.

TODAY’S WORD

Today’s Scripture
Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
1 John 5:5, NIV

AN OVERCOMER
Many people are not reaching their potential because their vision is limited. They’re talented and have favor, but they don’t see themselves accomplishing dreams, being blessed, living healthy. You will never rise any higher than the way you see yourself. Through your eyes of faith, you need to see yourself the way you want to be. You may be fighting an illness, but you need to see yourself healthy. If you’re struggling in your finances, you need to see yourself out of debt, with abundance, being a blessing to others. If you’re dealing with an addiction, don’t let that negative image take root. Don’t see yourself defeated or dysfunctional, as someone who “can’t break it.”

Get a new image. See yourself free. See yourself whole. See yourself as a child of the Most High God. See yourself as an overcomer, as “more than a conqueror through Him who loved us.” Your inner vision is setting the limits for your life. The pictures you keep in front of you, in your imagination, that’s what you’re moving toward.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You for being my God and making me into a brand-new creation in Jesus. Thank You that I was born to overcome and see myself as free and whole. I believe and declare that I am more than a conqueror by faith, a victor and not a victim of circumstances. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

SECTION TWO

Soon after the tragedy of September 11 had taken place, some believers publicly declared that God was judging America because of her sins. When I heard that, I could just imagine some terrorist somewhere in Afghanistan agreeing with them and thinking that “god” was indeed using him to judge America. Can you see that something is amiss when both believers and terrorists agree on the same thing?

Thousands of people died and many families, friends, and loved ones were thrown into grief. How can that be the work of our loving Father? Read the Bible for yourself. It says that God is “not willing that any should perish” (2 Pet. 3:9). Terrorism is the work of the devil. It is not the work of our loving Father.

Some may ask, “But Pastor Prince, didn’t God use Elijah to call down the fire of judgment on those who opposed him?”

Yes, the story of a literal fire judgment that fell upon the enemies of the prophet Elijah is told in 2 Kings 1:1–15, and there are other accounts of God’s judgment in the Old Testament, such as upon Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 19:24–25). But God wants us to be able to rightly divide His Word (2 Tim. 2:15).

He wants us to be astute in rightly dividing and clearly separating what belongs to the old covenant of law and what belongs to the new covenant of grace. He wants us to be able to distinguish what occurred before the cross from what occurred after the cross and to understand the difference the cross has made. Many believers today are living as if the cross did not make any difference!

Don’t just take it from me that God will not call down the fires of judgment on you today. See for yourself what Jesus Himself said about what Elijah did. Do you remember the time when Jesus wanted to enter a certain village in Samaria, but the people there refused to receive Him?

When Jesus’ disciples saw that the people rejected Jesus, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” Now, how did Jesus respond to them? Did He say, “That’s a great idea! You are truly disciples who carry My heart”?

No, of course not! Read your Bible. He turned to His disciples and rebuked them firmly, saying, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them” (Luke 9:54–56).

My friend, the Spirit of Jesus in the new covenant of grace is not the spirit of the old covenant of law during Elijah’s time. Jesus wants you to have full assurance in your heart today that He did not come to condemn or destroy you. He came to save you (John 3:17)!

The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). He wants you to live a life marked by His love, power, and blessings.

Where there are broken relationships, they are mended. Where there are bad habits, they are broken. And where there are challenges, you emerge victorious. Hallelujah!

LABOUR PROTEST: MATTERS ARISING, NLC TO DSS,HISTORY WILL NOT FORGIVE US

22/02/24

PRESS RELEASE

The Nigeria Labour Congress,in a statement by the NLC President, Joe Ajaero has raised concerns over what it calls ‘unsolicited advice’ of the Department of State Security to shelve its planned protest of February 27th and 28th 20th 2024.

NLC PRESIDENT JOE AJAERO

The NLC had briefed the media last week, saying mobilisation for a nationwide protest, will begin today, thursday, February 22, at the expiration of a 14 ultimatum to the federal government over failure to met 16 point agreements reached on October 2, 2023.

The NLC says it will be protesting not only on the renaged agreement, but, against the unprecedented high cost of living in spite of the indescribable suffering in the land, spiralling inflation, deepening poverty and the Naira at an exchange rate at N1,900 to one U.S Dollar.

The NLC said it is taken aback, with the DSS statement, because, it pre-supposed that the action is intended to be violent and disruptive even when labour has a history of peaceful protests.

Labour said More worrying is the new role the Service has assigned to itself as the chief spokes person of the government, quoting the DSS as saying; “It is common knowledge that all levels of Government are striving to ameliorate the prevailing economic condition and as such, should be given a benefit of the doubt, So far, appropriate authorities are working assiduously with a spectrum of stakeholders to fashion out modalities to address the current difficulties”.

Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress said it has not issued any notice of nationwide protest foe February 27 and 28.

The TUC said it jointly issued a statement giving government 14 days ultimatum to address issues in the 16 point agreement and that it will know the next line of action at the expiration of the ultimatum at midnight today, February 22.

GOSPEL CORNER : WHEN YOU HAVE A DEEP REVELATION OF HOW MUCH GOD LOVES YOU, YOU CAN’T REMAIN SICK FOR LONG.

TODAY’S WORD

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
I recall the many miracles he did for me so long ago. Those wonderful deeds are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about them.
Psalm 77:11–12, TLB

The Power of Rememberingss
Notice that the psalmist said thoughts of God’s goodness were constantly in his mind. That’s a great way to live. When we learn to recall the good things God has done for us, it helps build our faith and keeps us encouraged. It’s hard to be negative when you are constantly thinking about God’s blessings and favor in your life. Too often, though, we remember what we should forget, and we forget what we should remember.

In the Scripture, after God miraculously stopped the Jordan River so the Israelites could cross over into the Promised Land, He told them to gather stones as a memorial of the event. He didn’t want them or their children to ever forget His faithfulness. Earlier this month, our church experienced the goodness of God in a remarkable way. When God protects you, when He intervenes in your circumstances, when He brings unexpected successes, set up those stones of remembrance. Then think of them on a regular basis. When you get this awareness of God’s goodness down inside you, your faith will grow and your joy will overflow.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

“Father, thank You for all the amazing things You’ve done in my life, for the victories You’ve helped me win, the protection You’ve given me, and favor You’ve shown. Help me set up stones of remembrance so that I will always have confidence in You and will never forget Your goodness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

SECTION TWO
If you think that God is mad at you or that He is out to punish you, how can you have faith that He hears your prayer for healing? How can you believe Him for your miracle?

If you think that God is mad at you or that He is out to punish you, how can you have faith that He hears your prayer for healing? How can you believe Him for your miracle?Yet, the truth is that God loves you so much that He gave you Jesus, heaven’s best, so that you will NEVER be cut-off from Him no matter what you’ve done or not done.

Jesus went to the cross for you so that God will always be with you and for you, to heal you and do good to you.

When you have a deep revelation of how much God loves you, you can’t remain sick for long. You won’t be afraid that He may be keeping His healing power from you. Keep feeding on His perfect love for you. Keep meditating on it. It’s the sure antidote to fear!

GOSPEL CORNER : YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HOW SOMETHING CAN HAPPEN OR HOW YOU’RE GOING TO COME THROUGH. THE SOVEREIGN GOD HAS ALREADY NOT ONLY PLANNED IT, BUT HE WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN. IT’S NOT UP TO YOU; IT’S UP TO HIM. YOU CAN REST IN HIS PLAN.

Today’s Word

Today’s Scripture
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11, NIV

THE UNSTOPPABLE GOD
Long before you were born, God laid out the plan and purpose for your life. His will is unstoppable. When it’s His sovereign will for you to be blessed, it’s not dependent on anything that has happened to you or anything you are currently facing. The blessing will overtake you. It’s unstoppable. There’s nothing you can do or not do to keep His sovereign will from coming to pass or to get God to change His mind.

You’ll see favor that you didn’t earn, you didn’t deserve, you weren’t born into, and you can’t explain.

You will face some things you don’t understand. The enemy will try to cause you to doubt, but you can stay in peace knowing that it’s all working according to God’s will. You’re not at the mercy of fate or happenstance. You don’t have to worry about how something can happen or how you’re going to come through. The sovereign God has already not only planned it, but He will make it happen. It’s not up to you; it’s up to Him. You can rest in His plan.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for Your plans for my life, plans that are full of hope and an abundant future. Thank You that You are calling me to trust You and to be comfortable not knowing how everything will work out. I believe that You not only have written my plans but that You will make them happen. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
[2/21, 2:00 AM] Odia Abuja: Isn’t it interesting in the above passage that the devil has to seek out those whom he may devour? This means that he can’t devour everyone. Don’t surrender your authority to him and be found among those whom he can devour!

Also, did you notice that he roams about like, or as, “a roaring lion”? I asked the Lord why the devil goes about as a roaring lion and not some other creature. He led me to Proverbs 19:12, which says, “The king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion” (boldface mine).

The devil is an imposter who goes about as a roaring lion because he is imitating the King of kings, our Lord Jesus, the real lion of Judah. He wants people to think that our King is full of wrath, anger, and rage against us. He comes at us roaring with the voice of condemnation, accusation, and shame.

Satan wants you to have the impression that you have failed God, and that He is not only disappointed with you, but is also downright furious with you. Now, if you believe that about God, would you be taking refuge under the shelter of His wings? Would you be taking your rightful place of authority, power, and strength? Of course not. In fact, you will flee from God!

Believers who are under a cloud of condemnation won’t pray Psalm 91, the prayer of protection. They feel unworthy of God’s promises and, in fact, are expecting punishment and judgment from God.

That is exactly where the devil wants you to be. When you run away from God, you are running straight into the devil’s snare. You abdicate your place of authority when you abdicate your place of intimacy with God.

Beloved, you need to know this: You are loved. God is not mad at you. In Christ, you can have the confident assurance that you are forgiven, loved, and righteous (Eph. 1:7, Rom. 8:37, 2 Cor. 5:21).

The Lord Jesus has taken all your punishment at the cross so that today, you can enjoy His undeserved, unearned, and unmerited favor. God sees you in Christ, who is completely spotless and without blame.

Based on our own deeds, none of us qualify for His protection. But because of what our Lord Jesus has done for us on the cross, we can all come boldly to His throne of grace (Heb. 4:16). Because of what He has done, we qualify to dwell in the secret place with the King of kings, where the phony “roaring lion” has no power over us!

RIGGS LONDON FRAGRANCES OFFERS 5% TO CHARITIES IN WEST AFRICA… Confetti Group

20/02/24

DANIELS OG

5% from Riggs London fragrances to go to charities in West Africa… says Confetti Group.

Fragrance specialists Confetti Group says 5% of earnings from Riggs London fragrances in 2024 will go to many charities across West Africa.

Riggs London fragrances recently joined the list of many fragrances on Nigerian perfume shelves and said to be having an explosive growth so far.

RIGGS RANGE OF BODY SPRAYS

Speaking at a private briefing in Lagos, Ori Leslau founder and CEO of Confetti Group who has been an outspoken and strong advocate for direct foreign investment in Africa and also supports a number of grassroots foundations noted that Confetti Group this year will invest 5% of its profits back into charities in West Africa focused on alleviating poverty and providing greater access to education for young people in difficult situations.

According to Leslau, his company caters for the specific consumer requirement in each of its 30 markets globally, saying West Africa has been no different. “Feeling great and smelling good go hand in hand, and our teams work very hard to help you do both, creating fragrances which are not just a product to consume but also a personalised expression of identity and culture.”

He used the opportunity to thank Nigerians for welcoming Riggs London into thier lives with open arms, adding “we are here to support you for the journey.”

He stated that Riggs London was launched to change the perception that high quality and long-lasting fragrances can only be obtained by spending more. “Our ‘Perfume in a Can’ range of fragrances (which retails for around $3 USD) boasts some of the highest fragrance concentrations in this price bracket and guarantees long-lasting fragrance protection without the price tag.”
