As the lock down Bites harder on Nigerians,President Muhammadu Buhari wants people to exercise patience and remain at home to help halt the spread of Corona Virus.

Acknowledging the suffering Nigerians are going through at the moment,especially those who depend on daily earnings to Survive ,the President said,No elected government could ask more of the citizens of the country that elected them than today we ask of you.

“But we must ask you – once more – to observe restrictions on movement where they are in place, and follow the instructions of our scientists and medical advisers: stay home, wash your hands, save lives.

“The freedoms we ask you to willingly forsake today will only last as long as our scientific advisers declare they are necessary. But they are essential – world over – to halt and defeat the spread of this virus”..

The Government said multiple measures to assist with 70,000 tonnes of grain is being released from the National Strategic Grain Reserves for distribution to those in most need, distribution of small cash payments are also being made, and will continue to be made by the federal government in the states and local government areas.

“We ask you to listen and follow public announcements via the mass media for instructions as to how to receive this government support – and learn of more public assistance in the coming days”

210 countries and territories across the globe are now affected with the corona virus with Nigeria having a total of 318 confirmed cases,70 Discharged and 10 Deaths.

MORE COVID-19 PATIENTS INCLUDING AN 11 YEAR OLD BOY DISCHARGED IN LAGOS BRINGING TO A TOTAL OF 50 SO FAR

The Lagos state government has released another 4 patients of the corona virus.

The patients who are all male, include an 11 year old boy were discharged from the Lagos State Isolation Center at Yaba and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after they recovered fully and consecutively tested negative to COVID-19 twice on Saturday.

This brings to 50, the total number of patients successfully managed and discharged so far in Lagos State.

Meanwhile, more cases have been confirmed in Lagos making a total of 166 Confirmed cases in Lagos,111 Active cases,50 Discharged, 2 evacuated, 3 transferred to Ogun State, their place of residence and 4 Deaths

In a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19 Pandemic, the Lagos State Government has commenced a house to house case identification to detect possible cases of COVID 19 in the State.

Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi said the COVID19 case identification campaign tagged the ‘Community Active Case Serach’ commenced on Monday 6th April and is expected to run for two weeks in the first instance across the State.

He explained that health workers during this time will move from house to house including health facilities in pairs to administer electronic questionnaires to citizens which will center on COVID19 symptoms.

He stressed that the officials carrying out the exercise can be identified with the COVID19 outbreak Response tags and letter from the Local Government.

Said he, “In the coming days, some of our health workers will be moving around in pairs to administer an electronic questionnaire at homes and healthcare facilities to make enquiries about symptoms of cough, cold and fever.

“This is in a bid to intensify our search for possible cases of COVID19 in different communities across the State. I implore you to give them your maximum support by providing accurate information that would help in containing this pandemic quickly”.

The Commissioner assured that the State remains committed to deploy necessary strategies to win the battle against the virus. He implored residents to continue supporting the government by complying with directives and measures put in place to curtail the spread of the diseases.

THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT HAS ASKED ALL RESIDENTS TO COMPLY WITH THE LOCKDOWN INSTRUCTIONS UNTIL FURTHER DIRECTIVES COMES FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON THE NEXT LINE OF ACTION.

THIS WAS DISCLOSED ON THURSDAY DURING AN INTER MINISTERIAL BRIEFING TO GIVE A SITUATION UP DATE ABOUT THE RAVAGING COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

AT THE BRIEFING, THE COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH PROFESSOR AKIN ABAYOMI HINTED THAT SEVEN MORE PATIENTS WILL BE DISCHARGED LATER IN THE DAY.

ABAYOMI GAVE INSIGHT ON HOW LAGOS STATE HAS BEEN PREPARING AN EMENGENCY LIKE COVID-19 IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS AFTER THE EBOLA OUTBREAK.

HE MADE IT KNOWN TO THE PUBLIC THAT PATIENTS WHO DIE OF THE CORONA VIRUS WERE ALSO AGENTS OF TRANSMISSION, AND SO COULD NOT BE BURIED LIKE OTHER PEOPLE WHO DIED A NORMAL DEATH.

ON THE CONTROVERSY OF WEARING NOSE MASK FOR PROTECTION AGAINST CORONA VIRUS, THE COMMISSIONER SAID THE LP95 MASKS WAS THE ONLY USEFUL MASK FOR PREVENTION.

AT THE MOMENT, LAGOS STATE WHICH IS THE EPICENTRE FOR THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK IN NIGERIA HAS A TOTAL NUMBER OF CONFIRMED CASES OF 145,32 DISCHARGED,AND 2 DEATHS.

The Onikan Stadium Isolation Center is now Opened to accommodate Spill over Patients From the Yaba infectious Disease Hospital.

Sixteen new cases of CORONA VIRUS confirmed in Nigeria by the Nigeria Center for Disease control NCDC.

Ten out of the new cases are from Lagos state, which FCT has two,Oyo two Delta State one And katisina One.
