FG moves to increase trade relations with Iran
…as Iran considers direct shipping, flight to Nigeria
The Federal Government, has called for the deepening of trade relations between Nigeria and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, made the call during a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on the sidelines of the ongoing 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States.
Onyeama reminded the Iranian Foreign Minister that Nigeria and Iran have excellent relations, saying that Nigeria will be very happy under the cooperation and engagement of Amir-Abdollahian to improve even more, the relationship between both countries.
Onyeama further said Nigeria appreciates the certain intricacies of international financial systems and some of the obstacles.
Amir-Abdollahian said envoys of both countries, with a great deal of hard work and focus and in all seriousness, were pursuing the further development of the relationship between Nigeria and Iran.
He added that exchanges between both countries were testament to the fact that both countries were very serious and focused and motivated to improve relations.
He added that both countries have very high capacities for mutual cooperation. But the level of trade and collaboration and cooperation between the two countries is not at the satisfactory level, particularly at the level of political cooperation.
Amir-Abdollahian further said in order to realise the desired higher volume and commercial trade between both countries, Iran is seeking and studying how to best establish direct shipping route from Iran to Nigeria.
He said Iran had no issues or challenges whatsoever in completely removing any type of obstacle that may hamper the progress of trade between both countries.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also said in the beginning, Iran can do its very best where it is needed in order to remove or lessen any restricted duties that may exist and subsequently, Iran is ready and very much willing to best analyse on how to go swiftly about the removal of such duties that exist between both countries.
Amir-Abdollahian disclosed that Iranian-based Mahan Airlines is fully willing, ready and capable to establish direct flights route from Tehran to Lagos.

Mailafia: The Exit of A Titan
…..Leaders of Conscience, NCFront, Mourn the Passing of Obadiah Mailafia, To investigate his death
National Leaders of Conscience under the auspices of the National Consultative Front, NCFront, an emergent political movement of a group of eminent leaders of thought working towards the emergence of a new Nigeria that works for all by 2023 wish to express deep shock and sadness over the passing of our associate and founding member of the Front, Dr Obadiah Mailafia, former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in the 2019 general elections in Nigeria
It will be recalled that Mailafia until his unbelievable demise today was a member of the National Steering Council and the North Central Facilitator of the NCFront, who raised the bar of commitment to the tasks of the movement, constantly advocating a fair, just and equitable governance of Nigeria therefore becoming a Frontline member of the National Constitutional Dialogue Committee initiated by the movement to stem the heightening constitutional crisis and political agitations and insecurity traceable to the inherent flaws and pit falls of the Nigerian Constitution foisted on the country by the Nigerian military at the outset of current troubled democracy in 1999
In demonstration of his huge commitment to the movement, Obadiah Mailafia last week gave a positive feedback to the National Secretariat of the NCFront on a tactical task given to him by the movement towards ensuring cohesion and stability in the North Central and Middle Belt region ahead of the people’s constitutional dialogue in the region, showing no sign of illness.
Memories of his various endeavors and contributions will be remembered and honoured by the NCFront during the 2nd National Rescue Summit being planned by the NCFront to commemorate Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary on 1st October, 2021
The movement however wishes to condole and commiserate with the family of its departed Leader, Obadiah Mailafia, praying for the repose of his soul and fortitude and strength for members of his family and promising investigation into his sudden death

Chief Mrs Ifeoma Ekwueme, the wife of late political sage and former Vice President of Nigeria, Chief Alex Ekwueme, has assured Soludo’s campaign team of total and unflinching support in their bid to deliver massive victory for the APGA flag bearer in the Anambra November 6 gubernatorial election.
Mrs Ekwueme gave this promise when some members of Cee Cee Soludo Media team paid her a courtesy call in her home in Okoh, Orumba North LGA.
The team was led by Joe Anatune, Onwa n’Awa, who is the APGA Flag bearer’s Chief Media Strategist for the Anambra gubernatorial election.
The team used the opportunity to present some campaign materials to her, including some quantities of Cee Cee Soludo campaign posters.
Mrs Ekwueme, who has not hidden her love and full support for the former CBN governor’s gubernatorial ambition, heartily received the team on September 13, 2021. She promised to assist in her best possible ways to see that the APGA flag bearer wins the heart and votes of the members of her constituency, especially the grassroot.
Reporting on the outcome of the meeting, Chief Joe Anatune said that it was very fruitful.
“We really tapped from the rich experience of the wife of the late political sage. Her advice and encouragements are heartwarming as she availed us a number of strategic moves necessary to deliver overwhelming victory for Soludo”.

US-CDC Trains 40 Public Health Officials in Nigeria on Emergency Response Lagos––The United States

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC) on Monday kicked off a two-week capacity building program in Lagos for Nigerian experts on public health emergency response.
The training seeks to certify the first cohort of 40 participants drawn from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), state-level ministries of health, the Nigeria Public Health Emergency Mement Professional Certification (PHEM PC).
According to the US-CDC Nigeria Country Director Mary Boyd, “the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic illustrates now more than ever the importance of ensuring the public health and health care systems, can adequately prevent, respond to, and recover from health emergencies, particularly those whose scale, timing, or unpredictability threatens to overwhelm routine capabilities.”
The PHEM PC training, a first of its kind in Nigeria, adapted from US-CDC Atlanta, equips emergency managers, incident managers, state epidemiologists, first responders, watch managers, and other public health experts with the knowledge, competencies and skill sets they need to respond to public health emergencies.
During the intensive program, participants will receive specialized training in crisis and emergency risk communication as well as public health emergency management functions and operations.
The PHEM training is part of the U.S. Government’s efforts to support pandemic preparedness globally. US-CDC, NCDC, and Georgetown University are collaborating to deliver this training.
In 2019, Nigeria became a Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) partner country committed to achieving GHSA 2024 targets and International Health Regulations (IHR) requirements.
US-CDC supports the Government of Nigeria (GON) to achieve these targets by strengthening workforce development, surveillance, emergency response, and laboratory capacity among other areas.

Let me shoot straight from the hip. Like him or hate him, Soludo is the most preferred and popular politician in Anambra today if truth must be told. Forget about those who spew their closeness to the grassroots or federal might as sobriquet to gain undue and unearned advantages when their actions have never impacted on the masses.
The membership of the Soludo Brand Community (SBC) cuts across all demographics; men, women, boys, girls, artisans, professionals, traders, farmers, etc. They are united by an Anambra that will be profitable to invest in, conducive and safe to live in, attractive to work in, gainful to learn in and exciting to relax or enjoy in.
The underlying factors that propel the rapid expansion of the SBC are not far-fetched. One: We are living in difficult times. This is no time for a learner on the job. The handouts from Abuja are getting smaller and smaller. To make progress, we need somebody with disruptive ideas. Two: It is imperative that we consolidate on the stellar achievements of APGA governments in the State. We can’t go back to Egypt. Three: We need somebody with the appeal or name that can galvanize Ndi Anambra to invest massively in our homeland. Four: Soludo is known by the profundities of his ideas for development. Five: He is not going to begin learning on the job as he has the experience to hit the ground running from day one.
Soludo is one of the most sought-after prodigious thinkers and exceptional doers of our time. He has local, national and international clout to pull strings for the State and for our people. He has done great things in similar, very tough circumstances for the world and Nigeria, so his records speak eloquently for him.
This is his time, a time when his person and ideas are most relevant. These explain why people are making enormous sacrifices of their time, their talents and their treasures to ensure he becomes their next Governor.
And as the Chief Marketing Officer of the Anambra destination branding as Governor, he will galvanize our people to transform our State to a more livable and more prosperous homeland.

ANAMBRA 2021: DEFECTION AS SMOKE SCREEN FOR RIGGING BY APC
We keep wondering why the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State is afraid of competition; keen, fair and transparent competition and contest. Particularly, we have never ceased to ponder why its current flag bearer regales in cutting corners in all the elections he has participated in. This unsavoury reputation in a democracy, follows him like a shadow everywhere he goes. Now, when will Senator Andy Uba remedy himself?
We have it on good authority that Mr. Uba told a group of high networth Ndi Anambra in Ikoyi, Lagos that he rigged the disputed direct primary that hoisted him as flag bearer, as pay back for the previous primaries where he was outrigged. He said that with such bold face that his audience were left in rude shock.
Not done, APC is prancing around the state looking for some fall guys desperate for lucre as defectors to their party to create a smokescreen about their strength and acceptability. They do not stop here.
They are on a hollow ritual of attempting to psychologically agitate the minds of the good people of Anambra State with the impression that they have the election outcome already decided in their favour, not by the people but by federal might. To them and in their warped wisdom, power belongs to Abuja, no more, no less. In this macabre dance of shame, they plod the streets with chips on their backs. Poor souls, for swimming against the tide,they are rapidly burying their political careers.
Ndi Anambra, as smart and discerning as ever, view them as deceitful and hold them in utter dismay. They know that they are renegades who are only out to conquer and plunder. But Anambra is not Imo state!
On the other hand, the remarkable track records of APGA and its flag bearer are beacons of hope that the future is bright. Yes, Cee Cee Soludo is running on these track records with his sight firmly fixed on developing a livable and prosperous homeland where the world can come to invest, live, work, learn and enjoy. Soludo and APGA are busy marketing this alluring destination to Ndi Anambra. The message and messenger are spreading like wildfire. The good news is that nobody can stop an idea whose time has come. Ndi Anambra are set to embark on the journey and will jolt them back to their senses on November 6, 2021.
For now, as the Yorubas who would counsel, Ndi Anambra ronu!
